Hawaii - The Big Island

The Big Island of Hawaii has an enormous variety of activities and climate zones, as well as the most active, accessible volcano in the world. There is excellent snorkeling and diving in places like Kailua-Kona, great hiking everywhere, beautiful beaches, and tremendous resorts. Volcano National Park lets you walk right up to lava flows and watch it flow into the ocean and create new rock, making the island bigger every day. The Big Island also has two mountain peaks over 13,000 feet: Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa. Mauna Loa is the largest mountain in the world, even taller than Everest, since its base begins all the way at the bottom of the ocean.
